Mexico – 7.24.1999

I was just not feeling well this morning.  I also think it was due to both not getting enough rest and going out last night.  I woke up but just wasn’t feeling up to par and thought it better to just stay in than feel terrible all day.  The only thing I regret missing is the Del Monte factory.  I wasn’t too concerned about the farms.

I woke up around 10:00 and was dying of thirst.  We didn’t have any water left and I couldn’t drink the tap water so I had to get up.  I took a shower and went into town.  After walking around a bit I grabbed an English paper and ate a cheeseburger and fries for lunch.  I ate by the window of the restaurant and for the first time in a long time felt relaxed.  After lunch I walked around a bit more and did a little shopping.  After shopping in the hot sun it was time to hit the pool.  So I headed back to the hotel and went to the pool.  There was a guy there who I had met at the bar the other night.  He was around 50, from California and with his friend who was teaching forensics here in Mexico for a weekend.

He had talked to Jen all yesterday when she was sick by the pool.  It was so nice to relax under the sun with an incredible view of the mountains and city.  Eventually everyone came back to the hotel and I headed back into the city with Greg.  We were walking around the square and ran into Jen and Angela sitting at an outdoor café.   We sat with them and ate dinner.  Then we all went shopping together for a few hours.  That night Jen really wanted to go out but I resisted the peer pressure and just went to bed.  I needed to relax.
