Mexico – 7.2.1999

I’ve looked ahead in the syllabus and found that we have 9 more days of nothing but class.  That is not that bad.  I couldn’t survive if every week was like this one.

One thing that really bothers me is the fact that we almost never end class on time.  The teacher goes off on tangents then one or two people ask a question which drags the class on for at least a half an hour after the class should have ended.  Another thing I really don’t like is when they schedule two classes back to back without a break.

I foresee the trip getting better though when we finally take a few field trips and finally get a little free time.  This week is just too much.  It reminds me of those Cub Scout camps I had to go to as a little kid.  A rigorous routine every single day and I couldn’t escape.  I will remain optimistic about this trip.  I do understand the importance of learning about Mexico in class, however I feel most of the information we received could be conveyed in 45 minutes max.  This would give us more time to do homework and really enjoy the trip.  Right now all of the students really dread this rigorous routine day after day.

I do know this program will pick up when we finally get to take field trips.

I’m glad today is Friday and we can go out and have a good time without having to get up at the God awful hour of 7.  Speaking of sleep, I really haven’t in the past couple nights because my roommate Tom talks really loud in his sleep all night long.  May God help me.
