E-mail to Ryan 7.20.2004

Ryan,

Hey man, did you make a decision about France yet?  How is the job going?  I got an e-mail from Brendan with some pictures of Ireland and it looks like he had a pretty good time there.  What’s going on with you in NY?  You behaving yourself?

As for me, the Japanese classes finally ended and I’ve been teaching English every night, looking for a job and going to the gym during the day.  For the past few months I’ve had the urge to spread my wings again and take off to another country.  I’m trying to get to Vietnam and have made some good contacts there who will let me stay at their house while I look for a job, if I can’t get one through the internet.  I’m attracted to Vietnam because of the beautiful women, cheap prices and the feeling that I can progress in my career faster there than anywhere else.  Also, I think the language will be much easier to learn than Japanese.  My language ability here still has a long way to go but I’m happy with the progress I’ve made.  I’ll keep you updated on my whereabouts, but hopefully I’ll be in Nam in the beginning of October.

Let me know what’s going on in your neighborhood.

Take care,

M

M-

Where the hell are you?  I haven’t heard from you in awhile and I wanted to see if you are still alive.  What’s going on in Tokyo?  How’s school, work, etc.  Any word on when you’re coming home next?  It’s hard to believe that it’s already been a year since you, Brendan and I took over Tokyo!  Now that was a blast.

Anyways, let me know what you’ve been up to.  From this end, nothing much has changed.  I’m still in NY and working a whole lot.  Actually, now that I come to think of it I do have some news.  I got accepted to grad school in Toulouse, France!  I tried calling you to discuss about two weeks ago but some Japanese woman answered.  Do you still have the same number?  It didn’t sound like H.  Anyways, let me know I’d really like to get your feedback.  The program starts on Sept. 8 so I have to think fast.  The dilema isn’t if I’m going but when.  I may defer for a year to spend time with my dad/family, to finish my project in NY and to save cash.  However, another side of me tells me to go right now.  Alright, let me know what you think.  I hope all is well.

Ryan
