Mexico – 7.13.1999 – Embassy and Ohio Dept of Trade

Today we went to Mexico City to visit the U.S. Embassy and Ohio Department of Trade office.  I had never been to an embassy before and was excited to go.  There they talked to us about the difference between Mexico and the US but mostly about the foreign agriculture department.  I found it really interesting that the constantly monitor production and send reports to Washington.  Previously I really had no idea what an embassy did.  The most important thing I learned was about the availability of internships for students to work at the embassy.  That would be a great resume builder and another opportunity to go back to Spain.

After the embassy we headed to the Ohio Department of Trade.  I was amazed to learn that the guy in charge of the office was a native from Arizona and not from Ohio.  I also thought him to be a little rude during the other guy’s presentation seeing as he kept interrupting.  He also seemed a little high strung with a wisp of arrogance.  I don’t think he is a good representative for Ohio.  While I was there I started to realize the tremendous opportunity I have ahead of me if I play my cards right.  There are so many opportunities if only I take advantage of them.

I didn’t write on Monday because it was just a day of class and tests.
